You may have seen coverage in the media about the HMIC inspection of the Policing Pledge. TVP were graded “fair” overall but did receive five “good” grades. We were graded “good” for call handling and for treating people fairly and with respect as well as leadership and planning. Our performance was comfortably in the top half of forces.
There were however areas for development. We need to improve our response to voice mail messages, updating victims and responding to dissatisfaction.
One of the complaints from neighbourhood officers which I have often heard is the amount of forms that have to be completed. ACC Steve Rowell is tackling this and we have already reduced the need to complete engagement plans and has reduced the length of Neighbourhood Priority Profiles.
I receive many e mails and letters every week either praising or criticising the service you provide. The Pledge is a promise we make to the people of Thames Valley Police about the service we give. The way we respond affects the confidence that the public have in us.
