Dear Mr MacRae
REQUEST
FOR INFORMATION
UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION
(SCOTLAND)
ACT 2002
Thank you for your requests dated 12 January addressed to the Central Enquiry Unit, and 14
January
addressed
to Transport
Scotland for information
under the Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act concerning Kessock Bridge.
I should explain that our operating company Scotland TranServ is currently proceeding with the
design work for resurfacing and re-waterproofing
of Kessock Bridge. The most effective way of
undertaking
the work will require one carriageway
of the bridge to be closed to traffic and
to restrict the other carriageway over the bridge to one lane in each direction. We are therefore
currently considering
options and consulting with Highland Council and other outside parties
for reducing traffic congestion during the work, but no decision has been reached on appropriate
mitigation measures. The consideration
of options and consultations
is aimed at ensuring the
most cost effective and efficient measures to be taken forward. The costing of these measures
will form part of the work by Scotland TranServ and cannot be completed until agreement is
reached on possible measures.
I hope you find this to be of assistance.
If you require further clarification of these points then
please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you are unhappy with this response to your request, you may ask us to carry out an internal
review,
by writing
to The Chief Executive,
Transport
Scotland,
Buchanan
House, 58 Port
Dundas Road, Glasgow G4 OHF. Your request should explain why you wish a review to be
carried out, and should be made within 40 working days of receipt of this letter, and we will reply
within 20 working days of receipt. If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then
have the right to make a formal complaint to the Scottish Information Commissioner.
