Thank you for your e-mail dated 11th March 2010, in which you sought information relating to 
the following from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). 
 
How many staff have been dismissed since July 2005 to date (with reason/s if you are able 
to give them?) 
 
Your request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). 
 
I can confirm that we hold the information you have requested, details of which are provided 
below in two tables.  The first table excludes information for the National Offender 
Management Services (NOMS) HQ and HM Prison Service (HMPS).  The second table 
provides information for NOMS HQ and HMPS.. 
 
MoJ Dismissals 1st July 2005 – 19th March 2010 
 
There were 584 staff dismissals within the MoJ (which covers all MoJ agencies excluding 
HMPS and NOMS HQ) between 1st July 2005 and 19th March 2010.
