Dear Ms Viano
Marlow Flood Alleviation Scheme
Thank you for your email of 9 April 2010 in which you ask for clarification on the position of financial compensation and the impact of the proposed storage area.
The Environment Agency has modeled the proposals in detail and commissioned an independent review of our flood modeling. The results have consistently shown that the scheme will not increase flood risk elsewhere even without flood compensation works.
In spite of this we will be providing 100% volume for volume flood compensatory storage which will benefit all communities in the vicinity of Marlow, upstream and downstream.
No financial compensation will be offered to “all concerned property owners, and their insurers” as we have fully compensated for any possible impact within the proposals.
As previously explained the Marlow Scheme is not comparable with the Maidenhead, Windsor and Eton Flood Alleviation Scheme (MWEFAS) which predated the PPS25 requirements for planning approval and for which the Government Inspector fully accepted the impact of the scheme in the public inquiry.
I believe I have addressed this matter and have fully answered your queries. This is the last time I will be responding on these matters and you should not expect any further correspondence from me in this regard as there is nothing further I can add.
Yours sincerely

P.P.
