Dear Mr Johnson

I refer to your recent Freedom of Information Request. Your request asked for the following information: -

Your request

1) How many findings of maladministration has the Local Government Ombudsman

made against your Council over the last 10 years.

2) How many findings of maladministration has your Council, either in full or in

part, has refused to accept.

3) How many findings of maladministration has your Council accepted but refused

to comply, either in full or in part, with the local government ombudsman's

recommended remedy.

Council's response

I can confirm the following information with regards to the points raised in your request above.

1) How many findings of maladministration has the Local Government Ombudsman

made against your Council over the last 10 years.

In the last ten years the Local Government Ombudsman has dealt with 4 maladministration claims against the Council.

2) How many findings of maladministration has your Council, either in full or in

part, has refused to accept.

South Tyneside Council has not refused to accept in part or fully any of the Ombudsman findings.

3) How many findings of maladministration has your Council accepted but refused

to comply, either in full or in part, with the local government ombudsman's

recommended remedy.

South Tyneside Council has not accepted or refused to comply with any finding of mal

administration found by the Ombudsman.
