Redcar and Cleveland Council produces a free distribution quarterly A4 full-colour magazine, titled This is Redcar and Cleveland. The circulation aims to cover all households, totalling around 61,500. The print run is 68,000, allowing extra copies to be distributed to a range of outlets, including main Council buildings, libraries, housing estate offices, leisure centres and countryside sites.
2. How much it costs to produce and distribute said newspaper in the
last full financial year, and how much was budgeted from council
resources in the financial year 2009/2010
Each edition is costing roughly £25,000, covering writing, designing, publishing and distributing.

Very little. Eg the latest edition carried one full page advert, charged at £700.

Very little, although we do liaise with partners on occasions

It can vary. For instance, in the latest edition, the Cleveland Police Authority asked for and paid for a page.

The Council's Executive Management Team is, in effect, the editorial board, deciding on content and style. There is no policy guide.

The magazine is written, designed, published and distributed by external providers. This includes external copy writer plus a range of others that is difficult to quantify but include designers, printers & officer contributions, etc. There is no full time position within the Authority allocated to production of the magazine.
