Dear Mr Khan,
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST 03/2010
I write in connection with your request for information received by Kent Police on 2nd January
2010. I am now able to respond as follows:
1: Disclose what if any training is given to an officer when attending bailiff situations.
No specific training is given to Police Officers on dealing with bailiff situations in their initial
training. However, the context is mentioned when learning breach of the peace/public order
and the cross over between criminal and civil law.
2. Does any officer actually know what the law says on various bailiff action situations ?
The Freedom of Information Act allows the public the right to recorded information. This
question clearly does not ask for recorded information but instead seeks to illicit comment or
opinion and this is therefore not a valid request under Section 8 of the Freedom of Information
Act. Consequently Kent Police are not obliged to provide an answer.
However, as stated above our officers do receive some training relevant to this situation you
describe.
Thank you for your interest in Kent Police. If you have any further queries concerning your
request, or the application of the Freedom of Information Act in general, please contact this
office quoting the reference number shown above.
Yours sincerely,
Julia Potten
