Information Request:

  1. addresses and rateable values of Commercial properties that are

within your District Council up to a rateable value of £12,000 who

are eligible for, but not currently receiving small business rate

relief; and

(b) the names of the owners of those properties referred to in (a)

Thank you for your information request above dated 2 January 2010 received in our office on 4 January 2010.

I am currently reviewing your request and investigating whether there is any information available for disclosure. The Council, in accordance with Section 10 of the Freedom of Information Act (2000), will reply to your request promptly and in any event not later than the twentieth working day following the date of receipt.

Eastbourne Borough Council's response to your request will explain in detail the reasons why we may have been unable to supply all of the information you requested, where you can find information that is already publicly available or if the Council does not hold the information, where you will be able to access it. It will also detail your right of appeal if you feel that the Council has not treated your request fairly.

In some circumstances a fee may be payable and if this is the case I will let you know. A fees notice will be issued to you and you will be required to pay before we will proceed to deal with your request.

If after receiving the Council's reply to your Freedom of Information Request you are unhappy with the Council's actions, you can use Eastbourne Borough Council's appeals procedure. Appeals must be made in writing (or e-mail) and addressed to the Strategic Projects Co-ordinator, who acts as the Appeals Officer, to the address below:

If you are still not content with the outcome of your appeal after the Council's internal review, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) cannot make a decision unless you have already exhausted the internal complaints procedure provided by the Council's Appeals Officer.
