Thank you for your request for the following information:

As of January 2010, please could you tell me:

1) How many allotment sites are there in Thurrock for which Thurrock Borough Council has access to waiting list data?

2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?

3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these sites?

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in 2009? Please give:

a) number of new sites

b) names of new sites

c) total area of new land in hectares

d) total number of new plots

The information below has been supplied in response to your request for the

above mentioned information. We hope the information supplied satisfies your original request.

There are 22 self-managed allotment sites owned by Thurrock Council. Thurrock Council manages just two sites, the Giffords Cross and Fire Station allotments both based at Corringham. There are a total of 62 full size plots on these two sites and of these 14 plots have been spit into two providing an additional 28 half plots.

There are 12 people currently on the waiting list and there are no restrictions or closure to further applications. There have been no new sites developed in 2009 but one site at Pym Place, Cromwell Road, Grays re-opened but this site is self-managed and has an area of 1.36 hectares, we do not know how many plots have been created.

If you are unhappy with the Council's response you can make a complaint via the

Council's complaints procedures and this will be looked into. If you are not happy with

this decision you may then appeal to the Information Commissioner.
