Q1) How many allotment sites are there in Blackburn with Darwen for which Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has access to waiting list data?

  1. There are nine Allotment Sites in Blackburn which are managed by site secretaries who run the site on a day to day basis and hold the waiting lists. The Council do not hold any of the waiting lists for allotment sites, although this information was gathered in November 2009 and is noted in the below table.

Q5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in 2009?

A) None - We are in the process of extending the Feniscliffe Site and should create around another 30 plots which should be available late spring.

Please note Blackburn with Darwen Council also provide a number of garden areas with a total of 396 plots. Although there are no Statutory Allotments in Darwen, there are approximately 217 garden plots and a new site is also due to open this year creating approximately 55 plots, which will considerably cut the Darwen waiting list.
