Dear Sir or Madam,

Security Devices

Thank you for your correspondence dated 14 January regarding motorcycle security devices.

As stated to you in previous correspondence, no consultation was undertaken in relation to the recently purchased 200 BA10 ground anchors. Westminster City Council (WCC) began putting the first security devices in for the motorcycles before charging began.

It should be noted that when discussions first began regarding the motorcycle-parking scheme, there were no specific details regarding ground anchors, as the motorcycle-parking scheme was discussed as a whole.

WCC's surveys on the provided security devices revealed after completion that the usage of Sheffield Stands was low, and the usage of ground anchors was increasing.

Since the implementation of the ground anchors WCC have been committed to providing the devices where there was a demand and, if the motorcycle-parking scheme becomes permanent, WCC will be looking to install further devices where it is practical and appropriate to do so. As stated to you previously motorcyclists can comment on these devices through the City Council's website.

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. I accept this response may not meet with all your expectations; however I trust I have clarified the City Council's position.

Yours sincerely

Motorcycle Parking Team
