Dear Mr Sawyer

Re: Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Request for Information

Thank you for your email dated 26th January requesting further clarification in relation to your original request and requesting further information.

With regards to the points you have raised please see responses below:-

  1. You have requested confirmation as to how many contraventions took place from 12:23:00 to 12:24:00 with details of the contravention.

Only one contravention was recorded by camera 268 at the time specified and this was for contravention 32 (failing to drive in the direction shown by the arrow).

  1. Confirmation of operating resolution of Camera 268 and copy certification relating to the Camera.

The document `List of Approved Device Certifications' clearly confirms that all the cameras used in Camden (which includes Camera 268) have been duly certified and the information previously provided answers your request.

The operating resolution of the camera is at least 720 x 576 pixels as confirmed by approved device certification. Please refer to Section 3.1.2 of `Civil Traffic Enforcement - Certification of Approved Devices' which confirms the minimum resolution required.

  1. Is there a need to grant planning permission for the Camera and would the Certification of Approved devices not require a height?

Planning permission is not required for this CCTV camera for two reasons; these being that it is designated for traffic enforcement and is classed as public highway street furniture, similar to a lamp column or traffic light etc.

The Certification of Cameras does not require a specific height. Please refer to the `Civil Traffic Enforcement - Certification of Approved Devices' document previously referred to for confirmation of this. Section 3.1.3 provides guidance to assist providers of Traffic Enforcement systems but you will note that this guidance does not form part of the requirements of certification. Section 3.1.3.11 provides guidance with regard to height.

  1. Colour of CCTV post

I would point out that street furniture in the vicinity is also black including the black bollards and black traffic sign posts close to the camera post.
