Dear Mr Bernard,
Freedom of Information Request – Ref: 546764
Thank you for your recent request received on 22 December regarding the Councils
Gritting Policy for pavements.
The answers to your queries can be found below. This information has been
supplied by the Highways and Access Directorate (Environment Services).
Answer to question 1: The policy relating to gritting for priority footpaths is
contained in Cambridgeshire County Council’s Winter Service and Adverse Weather
Operational Plan. The relevant extract from this policy is attached to this email. The
County Council has requested information from NHS Cambridgeshire in relation to the
causes of pedestrian injuries. However this information is not currently logged
specifically in relation to accidents due to snow/ice on pavements.
Answer to question 2: Please see response to question 1 above re the extract from
Cambridgeshire County Council’s Winter Service and Adverse Weather Operational
Plan. We do not hold information in relation to a list of occasions over the last 10
years that these criteria have been met.
