Mr Williams

Dear Mr Williams,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request that was received on

19 December 2009. You ask for:-

….any details held of policy in relation to the agreement on social security with the Isle of Man Government.

Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act allows us to direct you to information which is already reasonably accessible to you. The information you requested is published in the “Law Relating to Social Security” - also known as the Blue Volumes, which are published and also available on the Department's website.

http://www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-guides/law-volumes/the-law-relating-to-social-security/

The agreement is set out in Schedule 1 to:

The Social Security (Isle of Man) Order of 1977, SI No. 2150 and a consolidated up to date version of it can be viewed at http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/a10-3855.pdf .

You should be able to find a copy of the relevant legislation in Volume Ten of the Blue Volumes, if your local public reference library keeps them in stock. Alternatively, if you do not have access to the Internet at home, you may be able to use facilities at your local public library to view the online version.

It is not clear from your request whether the text of the Agreement itself will be sufficient for your purposes, as far as your reference to the policy in this area is concerned. I attach therefore a copy of an explanatory background briefing note on the Agreement and how it operates, which I hope will be of some assistance.

If you have any queries about this letter please contact me quoting the reference number above.

Yours sincerely,

DWP Central FoI Team
