Dear Mr Morris

Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Request for Information

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please find herewith the following:

Request

Could you please supply us with the monthly hits, visits and unique users to the Birmingham.gov.uk website from the 1st January 2005, until December 2009. Could I have this data ideally in a spreadsheet format.

Response

Please see the attached Excel file containing data on Birmingham.gov.uk monthly unique users, visits and page views from the 1st January 2005 until December 2009 including some extra charts for ease of use.

Please note that whilst monthly hits were requested, we have supplied monthly page views as an alternative metric. We do not routinely use hits as a metric due to the fact that hits are not a particularly meaningful or useful metric on a website.

If you are not satisfied with the response you may ask for an internal review. If subsequently you are not satisfied with the Council's decision you may apply to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure provided by the Council. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at the following address:
