REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: MFA/MMO IT Systems and Strategies
Thank you for your request for information about MFA/MMO IT Systems and Strategies,
which we received on13th December 2009, and for your further note of clarification dated
19th December 2009. We are dealing with your request under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000 (FOIA).
Responses to the various requests set out in your correspondence follow;
a)
IT strategy
An IT strategy (including “e” or web strategies) is not held by the MFA. The MFA out-
sources provision of ICT services under Defra’s E-nabling contract with IBM. Defra’s IT
strategy is presently under review.
b)-d)
Corporate systems MFA utilise the systems providing HR, Finance and Procurement functions that are
owned and provided by Defra's Shared Services Directorate under a service level
agreement. The primary platform is the Oracle Business Suite. Specific details
regarding the purchase, cost, implementation and operational support costs for these
systems are not held by MFA.
For time recording, MFA utilises the services of a system operated by the Centre for
Environment, Fisheries & Aqualculture Science (part of Defra). Specific details
regarding the purchase, cost, implementation and operational support costs for this
system are not held by MFA.

IT strategy/plans relating to transition of MFA to MMO The MMO IT transition strategy is not held by the MFA. You requested documents
relating to migration of IT/IS in the transition from the MFA to MMO. I attach the

The existing MFA applications architecture
A gap analysis between future MMO system requirements and today’s systems
An IS roadmap intended to deal with priority areas from the gap analysis
