Dear Mr Henderson,

RE: Request for Information

Thank you for your email of 16 November 2009, in which you wrote:

“I understand that the new extension to the Crown Court at Isleworth has now been officially opened. In the absence of any reply to my email from the court itself (see below), under the Environmental Information Regulations, please can I ask for information from HMCS on the implementation of the Green Travel Plan for the Isleworth Crown Court.

I would hope your reply would include a copy of the Green Travel Plan as adopted by the Court, confirmation that an individual has been appointed at the Travel Plan Coordinator and information on how the Travel Plan is being reviewed and shared with the local community.”

Your request has been handled in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FoIA) as a request for information. Unfortunately the address of your original email was incorrect and therefore not received by Isleworth Crown Court.

Please find enclosed a copy of the Green Travel Plan adopted by the Court.

As you will note, the Plan involves some work in pro-actively promoting green methods of transport and surveying court users to show an improvement. So far I can report that the court has the washing and changing facilities referred to on page 15 of the plan and a local facilities notice board featuring timetables and a message from the Court Manager about the preferred use of public transport. A new Court Manager, Mark Taylor, was appointed recently and he intends to further review the plan in consultation with the local authority.

Manjula Keshwala is the member of staff at the court who has been appointed as the Travel Plan Coordinator.

As part of our obligations under the FOIA, the MoJ has an independent review process. If you are dissatisfied with this decision, you may write to request an internal review. The internal review will be carried out by someone who did not make the original decision and would re-assess how HMCS handled the original request.

If you wish to request an internal review, please write or send an email to the Data Access and Compliance Unit within two months of the date of this letter, at the following address:

If you remain dissatisfied after an internal review decision, you have the right to apply to the Information Commissioner's Office under Section 50 of the FOIA. You can contact the Information Commissioner's Office at the following address:
