Police warning over dangerous drug

REVELLERS are being warned about a dangerous drug which is appearing on the streets of Hyndburn.

Mephedrone, which is known locally as `Bubble' or `Michael', is sold online as plant feeder and is not for human consumption. Side affects from taking the drug include, paranoia, diarrhoea and depression, once the affects have worn off.

Whilst it is not currently illegal to possess, police are seeing evidence of teenagers using it and have issued a warning about the potential dangers associated with taking it.

Hyndburn Geographic Inspector David Mangan said: “It is extremely concerning that we are seeing more and more young people taking this drug.

“We strongly advise people not to risk their lives by taking drugs. They can have horrendous side affects and the consequences could prove fatal.”

Anyone with information or concerns can contact police on 0845 1 25 35 45.
