I am writing to acknowledge your request for information dated 30th November 2009 which has been dealt with under the Freedom Of Information Act 2000 (FOI).

Your request has been given the unique access to information code above. Please quote this reference on any correspondence relating to this request.

You have requested information about school-based staff. Unfortunately the Council does not provided this function, it is carried out by Northamptonshire County Council Education Department. Please resubmit this specific part of your request to them directly.

In response to the remainder of your request regarding the breakdown of gender on different salaries for the financial periods 2004/05 and 2008/09. Please find detailed below the Council's response.

Information is not available for the financial period 2004/05 as national guidelines issued by Her Majesty's Revenues & Customs (HMRC) (referred to in the employer handbook E11 (2009)) confirms that this information only needs to be kept for a minimum of 3 years. In following this guidance the Council can confirm that this information has been destroyed and is no longer available for disclosure.

Detailed below is information available for the financial period 2008/09

As you can instantly see from this data the Council has 11 females in senior manager positions paid over £65,000 compared to 7 males. In total the Council has a greater number of female employees (747) compared to men (715) in the bands you have requested. It should also be noted that although our current Chief Executive is male his predecessor was female.
