Dear Mr Rymer,
You emailed DWP on 16 June 2010 and asked for clarification of the Departments response dated 18th January 2010 in which you asked for an internal review of an earlier Freedom of Information reply.
Your Email asked:
“Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-request, so you are saying that in Merseyside due to fraud £146 only has been paid back to DWP due to fraud is that correct. What about the A4e fraud investigation in Merseyside are you saying that a4e has not paid back any money to DWP due to fraud in Merseyside??????”
I can confirm that the information supplied to you on the 18th January 2010 has not changed. From 1st April 2006 until 4th January 2010, one Welfare to Work Provider in Merseyside has had to pay back monies to DWP as a consequence of fraud. The overpayment was £146 and was the result of fraud by an individual employee of the company.
In our response to your FOI request dated 4th January 2010 we stated that one investigation remained open at that time. This has now closed and did not establish any fraud, either by employees or the provider organisation concerned.
There are no other investigations currently in progress in respect Welfare to Work Providers in Merseyside.
If you have any queries about this letter please contact me quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely,
DWP Central FoI Team
