Dear Mr Styles,

I write to clarify the situation with regards to your Freedom of Information request that you made to West Yorkshire Police on 16/11/09. You requested the following information:

I have to hand a copy of a letter from the Home Office, dated 8th July 2002, signed by Michael Ruff of the Police Pensions and Retirement Policy Section.

It is addressed to Ms M Banks-Mahoney of the West Yorkshire Police Personnel Department, 87-93 Northgate, Wakefield, and is a response to a letter sent by Ms Banks-Mahoney to the Home Office, dated 3rd July 2002. Her letter apparently asked about the payment of injury awards to officers over State retirement age.

I ask that you supply me with a copy of the letter, described above, that Ms Banks-Mahoney sent to the Home Office.

Due to the high levels of requests we are currently dealing with we anticipate that we will be unable to respond to your request within 20 working days. I would like to apologise in advance for the delay in responding to your request. Please be assured that we will endeavour to send a response out to you as soon as possible.

Further to this we would be grateful if you could inform us by your preferred method (contact details as above) if you still require a response to your request for information. If we do not hear from you within twenty working days from the date of this letter then we will assume that you no longer require the information that you have requested.

Please be assured that if you do still wish for us to proceed then we will be happy to do so.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Yours sincerely

Superintendent Tyron Joyce
