Freedom of Information Request

I write further to your freedom of information request received by the Council on 9 November 2009.

The responses to your questions are set out below.

  1. Please tell me how many of the following your local authority employed/employs during each of the years 2006-7; 2007-8; 2008-9; 2009-10:a) classroom assistants who help either specifically or as part of their generic role, to support children with additional; needs individually or collectively, in their education; b) specialist staff to support children in their education with additional needs individually or collectively. Across all departments and budget heads; c) other types of auxiliary/assistant/staff either specifically or as part of their generic role to support children with additional needs individually or collectively, in their education.

Please note that in ELC the roles of Classroom Assistant and ASN Auxiliaries are defined as follows: -

 

"Whilst the predominant role of Classroom Assistants is to support children's learning activities, Additional Support Needs Auxiliaries are required to deal with all personal, physical, medical and nutritional needs of children."

If you are dissatisfied with this response you are entitled to request that we review it. We must receive such a request within 40 working days of the date of this notice. A request to review our decision must be in writing (e-mail is acceptable) or another permanent format. We will then have 20 working days from the date we receive your request in order to complete our review and give you our decision. The review will be conducted by the Chief Executive or another official nominated by him. Please address this request to:
