10 December 2009

Dear Nevin,

Freedom of Information request reference 1048-09

I refer to your request under the above legislation for information on Lord Douglas Hurd's diary for November 5, 1993.

Lord Hurd's diary for 5 November 1993 reads:

05/11/93 Confirmed PROROGATION

05/11/93 Provisional Private engagement

05/11/93 07:55 Confirmed ETD Heathrow ETA Eglinton

For your information, prorogation marks the end of a parliamentary session. It is the formal name given to the period between the end of a session of Parliament and the State Opening of Parliament that begins the next session. The parliamentary session may also be prorogued when Parliament is dissolved and a general election called.

If you are unhappy with the decisions made in relation to your request from Europe Directorate you may ask for an internal review. You should contact me if you wish to complain. You have 40 working days to do so.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:

Information Commissioner's Office
Wycliffe House

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

Yours sincerely,

Adam Dady
