Dear S Brown

Re: Freedom of Information Request 4589

Thank you for your recent request to the Council. You asked to be provided with the following information:

  1. How many motorcycle bays were available in Westminster prior to the introduction of the parking charge?

  2. How many motorcycle bays are available following the introduction of the parking charge?

  3. How many of the bays have received upgraded security features, specifically, ground anchor points or secure railings suitable for chains?

  4. Could you list the locations of the bays with the new security enhancements and detail what the security provisions are for each bay? I would be grateful to know of the timescale for the rolling out of said measures to all other bays and an estimated date for completion

Response

  1. How many motorcycle bays were available in Westminster prior to the introduction of the parking charge?

  2. How many motorcycle bays are available following the introduction of the parking charge?

The Council does not hold information on the entire number of motorcycle bays available in Westminster. I can advise that the Traffic Management Order for on street advises that there are 498 bays on-street, but there was no Traffic Management Order created for off-street parking bays so we are unable to state how many of these bays exist, nor exactly how many bays there are in total across Westminster.

For the purposes of section 1 (4) some of this information is not held and we are unable to provide a full response to this question.

The Council does, however, hold information on the number of spaces available for motorcycle parking. For clarification, there may be a multiple number of motorcycle parking spaces within a bay. Information regarding the number of spaces available both prior to and following the introduction of the parking charge can be found within the Cabinet Member Report dated the 1st October 2009, which is accessible on the Council's website via the following link:

I hope this fulfils your request. Should you have any queries, please contact me at the address above.

Yours sincerely,

4
