The data in the table above is sourced from inpatient records received from provider trusts via 
SUS (Secondary Uses Service). The analysis includes patients registered with a GP practice 
in Hampshire PCT whose treatment was paid for by the NHS. 
 
Data for the cosmetic procedures was extracted on the basis of a procedure being coded to 
the  record  of  the  patient.  It  is  important  to  note  that  the  procedure  codes  provide  no 
separation  for  procedures  carried  out  for  purely  aesthetic  reasons  and  procedures  that  are 
carried out related to congenital anomaly, disease or trauma.
