Freedom of Information Request - RFI20091477 Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”) received on 26
October 2009, seeking the following information:
1) What is the median salary paid to full-time BBC staff employed on continuing contracts and fixed term
contracts in the United Kingdom in the following salary bands:
a)Bands 2 to 11
b)Bands 7 to 11
2) what is the median salary paid to full-time BBC staff employed in the United Kingdom on continuing and
fixed term contracts in the BBC World Service in the following:
a)Bands 2 to 11
b)Bands 7 to 11
By salary, I mean the median gross salary, including London weighting where applicable, and including UPA
or similar allowances. This is the salary before tax or any adjustment for national insurance. The figures
requested should exclude any payment for overtime or extra responsiblity allowances, or bonuses.
Please find below the information you have requested for UK-based full-time staff as at 31 October 2009.
The figures relate to the median gross salary (including London Weighting and UPA) for those in each band
group for the BBC as a whole and for World Service Broadcasting in particular.
