Dear Mr Price

Request for information

In your email of 29 October, you raised a number of queries about the details of expenses claimed by Jerry White, which I had sent you in response to your request CS/09/108.

A number of mistakes were made when the information I sent you previously was extracted from our finance database, and I apologise for sending you incorrect information. These included:

the report was run for periods that did not coincide with the annual figures presented;
the report included expenditure that were not relevant to the expenses enquiry; and
the private car mileage was wrong and included other travel which should have been added to `other travel'.

I attach a separate sheet showing Mr White's expenses as I sent it before and the revised, corrected figures.

We can no longer separate out the amount spent on `mileage' claimed before 2000/01, and any mileage claimed then is included in `other travel' for those years.

I should also point out that these figures include all costs in relation to this type of expenditure - both expenses claimed by Mr White (and, yes, Mr White will have provided receipts for all expenses claimed) and costs paid direct by the Commission (for example, train tickets are usually bought direct by the Commission in advance).
