I am writing in response to your request for information which was submitted online on 12th October. We have considered your request under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I must apologise for the length of time taken to respond to you in this regard and for any inconvenience that this delay may have caused. I will address each of your requests below, in the order that they appeared in your request:

“For every postbox in the SL9 postcode region:

1. How many times was each postbox emptied, each day?

2. How many items of mail were collected from each postbox, each day

For each of the 7 days between 4th-10th May 2009 inclusive. If that week's data is not yet available, the first full week preceding this date.

Last collection times are given on all pillar boxes. Additional collections are made from throughout the day from some boxes - as required until the last time shown. In Annex 1 to this letter I have provided the number of collections made from each pillar box in the SL9 postcode sector on each day within the period specified.

In relation to part B of your request, Royal Mail does not record the number of items collected from each box each day. Therefore, this information is not held.

We have received your email of 3^rd December 2009, in which you requested an Internal Review of your Freedom of Information Request. However, having now received a response you still have the right to request an Internal Review.
