Dear Mr Nunn,
Your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for your information access request dated 10 October 2009.
The Council can confirm that it does hold information in response to your request and has estimated that all of the former District and County Councils would have dealt with approximately 1,200 Local Government Ombudsmen (“LGO”) complaints in the last 5 years. Because of the way the Council holds complaints information, we would need to go through each file to ascertain whether any of them have LGA Part III Section 32(3) notices on them. We have calculated that at 10 minutes per file, this would take roughly 26 working days.
If you narrow your request down to the last financial year, it would take approximately 6 working days.
We have estimated that the cost to supply this information to you under the Freedom of Information Act (“the Act”) will be in the region of £1,110. This has been calculated in the following way: 6 working days x 7.4 hours x £25 per hour.
We need to receive this money from you before we can continue with your request. You have three months from the date at the top of this letter for the payment to reach us, after which this request becomes outdated. Should this occur, then you will have to re-submit your request if you still require the information.
Please send your payment to the Policy Officer - Business Intelligence at the address below. We can accept a cheque (payable to Cornwall Council) or postal order, but please do not send cash through the post.
If you are concerned about the level of costs, it might be possible to reach a compromise; for example if you were prepared to reduce the scope of your request in some way, or receive the information in a different form. If this is the case then you are very welcome to contact this office to discuss your requirements in more depth.
If you wish to complain about the way the Council is dealing with your request, please write to:
