Dear Mr Hasan,
I have contacted the Head of Undergraduate Admissions and she has said the following:
"The deadline for late registration is 31 October so we won't have complete data on registrations until mid November at the very earliest (once all of late students have trickled through). I don't want to release registration data before then as our numbers are relatively small and this can make a difference to our state school proportions. To be on the safe side, I would suggest we release this in December, once the date has gone to Academic Board and Council.
Secondly, we can only determine 'low income background' using our own proxies, such as the number of students in receipt of a full bursary or full grant, or something similar. Again, while we expect most on-time students to have received their bursary in the first few weeks, some students will have their grant, and therefore, their bursary delayed. So, to ensure we have the most complete data a release date of December would be preferred. We would need to find out how U Hasan defines 'low income'. Does he mean all English students in receipt of a full grant (ie. less than £25K/year household residual income) or a full/partial grant?
Also worth pointing out that the school data and the financial data is only available for the UK proportion of our UG cohort."
I suggest making the request again in late November/early December when we have the full data available. Also, we will need confirmation of what you mean by 'low income', either based on the definitions suggested above or another definition.
Please confirm if this is amenable to you, but we cannot provide the full data requested at this point in time.
Regards,
Rachael Maguire
