Dear Mr Hunt
Thank you for your request for information about those authorities where the 2009/10 audit remains open. Your request was received on 16 March 2011 and has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FoIA). I have interpreted your request to include all councils (excluding parish councils), police authorities, fire and rescue authorities and other local government bodies to which the Audit Commission appoints an auditor.
Please find attached a list of the 47 local government bodies where the auditor is yet to issue the audit certificate, which marks the closure of the audit.
