I too am a member of the Armed Forces wondering when the information relating to the 2009/2010 pay scales will be released, as the new scales if any are due to be effective from 1st April 2009.

I also am a memeber of the armed forces, it's now 5 days until our rise takes effect but we still do not know what it is, Is it any wonder that we are getting fed up and leaving in droves. You want us to give up our lives for this great country but what do we get in return. NOTHING.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I think the natives are getting restless, this is not a difficult
question, prolonging this announcement only feeds the fire of
distrust and adverse speculation by an already disgruntled armed
forces.
Yours sincerely,
M J Allison

4 days until any pay rise and increase in charges and still nothing. Are we not entitled to a minimum notice period (re. rent)? But of course this will go unanswered and ignored until its too late just like anyone who dares ask in the House of Commons gets blown off. MPs say they're greatful to their Armed Forces, but actions speak louder a lot than words! This Governement should be ashamed...

Sir
I note that once again we, the serving members of the Armed Forces, are being treated with disdain and have not yet been informed about how much we expect to be paid from next week.
Please can we be told, without spin, how much we will be paid. Thank you
Dr A Morris left an annotation (27 March 2009)
The fact that the Government has yet to release the intended payrise or lack of it for HM Forces following the recent AFPRB report is a disgrace to this country. It is yet another shameful example of how the political masters have no respect for the forces they expect to fight for them and is tantamount to breaking the much bandied about 'covenant'.
Please can someone explain why this has taken so long to be released and make the long awaited decision before the changes are due to be implemented next week.
Dr A Morris
Wife of a serving officer.

Just got this from the UK Parliament website.
"The AFPRB submitted it's report to the Prime minister and the Secretary of state for defence on 29th Jan 2009, the government only intend to make one announcement on public sector pay"

I had to check what rise I was getting in my armed forces pension and I was told 5% not sure if this is right, I know the pension follows the military pay rise. I hope its right the forces deserve that and more.

as a serving member I do not find it at all strange that we are treated as always like mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed sh**. after all the RAF is now so small we could ALL fit in old trafford and there would still be 30,000 empty seats
S Barnett left an annotation (27 March 2009)
After watching 4 hours of debate on the issue of Defence in the UK, 27/03/09 in the House of Commons and crossing fingers, waiting to finally hear the response of the question posted during Sir Malcolm Rifkinds address by one Tory Minister in which he asked about the delay of the Armed Forces Pay Review to find that nothing was mentioned at all by Bob Ainsworth, the Armed Forces Minister.
Once again, all the praise and high regards were given to the men and women of the fighting forces, yet still we are not told about our impending pay rise.
Maybe its because JPA is so good that once the pay rise? is announced a tick in the box is added and everyones account is sorted. (We all know how good JPA is!). Come on guys and girls, do you honestly think they want to sort out the Armed Forces when they have not sorted out their own accounts and expenses first!

I too am serving in the Military (Currently in Afghanistan) and the main talk out here is, where is the pay rise? If you release it late in April, it will miss the military pay run therefore saving money by gaining the interest on the money not paid in Apr. Will this be passed on to Military personnel?
Like the previous statement "it's now wonder we are leaving in our droves". I'm one of them!
Mike Colcomb left an annotation (30 March 2009)
Mr Brown is very lucky that serving members of the Armed Forces, like myself, can't form unions or take industrial action. His treatment of the military has been appalling and he certainly will not be getting my vote in the future.

What could they to if the armed forces went on strike, couldnt shoot all of them for treason!!
Seriously though, I feel that the government are taking the military for fools. Show some respect to the troops and spill the beans please.

I see the MPs have received news on their 2.33% pay rise today. So if they get theirs released to them, where is the armed forces pay rise?

Dear Sir/madam
As a member of the armed forces, myself and my Oppo's are wondering WHEN the announcements of the Armed Forces PAY RISE Or Not, as the case is at the moment will be released
The goverment Needs to know that withholding this infromation, it is giving personal already in Hot climents reason to consdier if they should stay in the ARMED FORCES if this is the treatment that are going to get.
So COME ON MR BROWN, Release the infromation FOR OUR COUNTRYS STAKE

I believe a Staff Sgt who i work with mentioned he had seen a signal which stated that the notification of the pay award was being delayed. He showed me acopy of this signal on Thurs 26th march, unfortunately I never took note of the SIC or the DTG. Would this explain why no decisionhas been made, if so why could something of this not be publicly announced instead of the government pro-longing the agony of all those serving this country.
Dan left an annotation (30 March 2009)
I am also a member of the armed forces and also saw the signal with regards to waiting a bit longer before there is any announcement. How much longer do we need to wait, ministers have received notification of there's but we the ordinary folk who actually put our lives in harms way for Queen and Country are being treated unfairly by having to wait. How much is a life worth I wonder? All those sat on there backsides number crunching need to think how much do we need a military force of any kind as all around me personnel are putting in there notice. Come on give us what we deserve and work bloody hard for!!!
j garbutt left an annotation (30 March 2009)
Yes I have also seen this signal, I have also seen something that says we are to get 2.6% for the second year in a row, But until the government accept the AFPRB recomendations we are getting absolutely nothing.
I have also e-mailed my MP to try and get an answer to this problem, as my MP is a Tory I am hoping something may happen.
