Waiting for an internal review by Hillingdon Borough Council of their handling of this request.
From: Sheila Gibb

Dear Sir or Madam,
The 2004 Housing Act (England & Wales) was purportedly introduced
in an effort to "improve the private housing stock". In essence
council can intervene in the private rented market on the basis of
health and safety.
Council has indicated that it has 1176 properties on its private
sector leasing scheme. Given that the Act is about "improving the
housing stock" could council provide information re the following:
1. How much money has council spent on improving the 1176
properties on its private leasing scheme if any?
2. How many additional bathrooms has council built (added) to the
1176 properties on its private leasing scheme?
3. How many of these 1176 properties are occupied by families and
how many are occupied by single persons?
4. How many of these 1176 properties are occupied by families of 5
or more persons?
5. How many of these 1176 properties had TENs served on them?
6. How many TENs have been served in total by the council.
An Act that provides different health and safety living standards
for single persons and families is quite simply discrimination
based on social status and property. It further undermines one of
the most universal freedoms established by the court, that being
the home is inviolate. This quite simply is no longer the case if
you are single and sharing to afford housing.
Yours faithfully,
Sheila Gibb
