Dear Mr Walker

Re: Freedom of Information request number 1435

Thank you for your request for the following information:

1. Has your authority ever found a member of the BNP or any other political Party guilty of a disciplinary offence related to their Party membership in the last three years? If so please give information as to when and how many.

2. Has any parent complained to you regarding the Party membership of any employee or the expression of political views within School classrooms under your authority during the last three years?

3. What safeguards do you currently have in place to prevent members of any political Party promoting their views within Schools

The details below have been supplied in response to your request for the above mentioned information. We are only able to supply some of the information you have requested. Below is an explanation of what cannot be supplied and why. We hope the information supplied is helpful.

  1. Although we hold information on disciplinary actions taken against employees, we do not hold details on their allegiance to any political party. Therefore, we are unable to answer this question.

  2. A complaint made about an employee from a school would be dealt with by the individual school. Therefore, we are unable to answer this question.

  3. The safeguards are contained within our Staff Code of Conduct which can be found attached. For schools please visit the DCFS website or contact the individual schools for their policies.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested (Q1 & 2). This is because we do not hold the information you have requested.

If you are unhappy with the Council's response you can make a complaint via the

Council's complaints procedures and this will be looked into. If you are not happy with

this decision you may then appeal to the Information Commissioner.
