Table 1: CPR3 Category (Referrals, Assessments and Children and Young People who are the subject of a Child Protection Plan, England)

LA Name

CPR3 CategoryNumber of EHE ChildrenActual/Estimate (A or E)
Number of home educated children in your authority of statutory school age who were the subject of a child protection plan at 31 March 20090E. This figure is taken from those pupils who are EHE that this LA has been notified of. Because there is no duty to inform the LA of EHE cases where children have never been on a school roll it is possible that there may be pupils out there who are EHE and who are subject to a child protection plan. It should also be taken into account that there may also be EHE pupils across all LAs who have social services involvement but are not necessarily subject to a child protection plan.
Total population of EHE children in your local authority84A - this is the actual number we have been informed of, there may well be additional children in the city of which we have no knowledge (see above).

Table 2: Inadequate Education (the number of electively home educated children of compulsory school age not receiving a suitable education)

CategoryNumber of EHE ChildrenActual/Estimate (A or E)
Number not receiving any education9 - our monitoring revealed parents were not providing children with an educationA
Number receiving some education but not a full time education1A
Number receiving a full time but not 'suitable' education2 - our monitoring revealed improvements need to be made and parents have been advised. We will follow up 3 months.A
Number not cooperating with monitoring so no assessment can be made18 - our attempts to monitor have been received by parents negatively and either access to home and child has been denied or work sent in is not sufficient to make a judgement. Two famlies who account for 7 children are clearly associated with an EHE organisation.A
Not yet assessed20 - part of normal processA
Total number of EHE children not known to be receiving a 'suitable' education50 - total of ones as aboveA

SAOsNumber Issued0Additional Comments: We have always managed to get pupils who want to return to school or who have to return to school because the education provided is deemed as unsatisfactory, into school or alternative provision.

Table 4: NEETS (figures for the 2008 leavers cohort who were home educated)

Table 5: Missing Children (runaways)

Missing Children currently recordedNumber of children who were EHE prior to their disappearance0Additional Comments: The term 'runaways' is misleading however this section has been answered based on the supplementary notes which uses the term. It does not account for EHE pupils who may have moved away to whereabouts known or unknown (ie CME) with their families.
