Dear Mr Gaffney,
Re: Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 – Request for Information
Thank you for your email which was received by the University on 2 November 2009 timed
12:08 hours, requesting the following information:
“Have you checked these figures...
No-one seems to be studying....to take just a few examples....
Accountancy and Finance....
Veterinary Medicine...
Medicine...
even Technology and Management it seems!
I can’t believe these figures are accurate”
University’s Response
The figures previously supplied were accurate but on reflection are not readily understood
without further contextual information as to what qualification was being studied for as
opposed to simply which subjects were being studied. With this in mind, we have amended
the spreadsheet in question (see Appendix 4) to show each subject grouped under a specific
qualification e.g. Master of Arts and the subjects associated with each qualification.
The supply of documents under the terms of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
does not give the applicant or whoever receives the information any right to re-use it in such a
way that might infringe the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (for example, by making
multiple copies, publishing or otherwise distributing the information to other individuals and the
public). The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (Consequential Modifications) Order
2004 ensured that Section 50 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (“CDPA”)
applies to the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (“FOISA”).
