Dear Mr Howarth,
RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST
Thank you for your email dated 26th September, 2009.
I have reviewed your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and my response is as follows:
In 2008-09 RBC received £622,763 from Council Tax (of which £49,962 was the precept for Whitworth Town Council.
Please see attached spreadsheet for the information regarding the revenue generation 2008-2009.
Business rates are collected by District Councils on behalf of central government, it is not recorded how much of the total business collected and forwarded to central government relates to businesses within Whitworth.
Rossendale BC does not separately (with three exceptions) record what percentage of its expenditure relates to activities undertaken within Whitworth, the exceptions being
£15,975 paid to Whitworth Town Council for a community caretaker and
£69,250 paid as a grant to the Community Leisure Association of Whitworth
£2,200 paid as small grants to various community groups within Whitworth via the local area forums
