Dear Mr Smith

Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000: Request for information

Thank you for your request for information, relating to FOI/4376/ABD. You have requested the following information:

Can the council please give a date when they will be fitting ground anchors or any other type of security, which allows a motorcycle to be made immovable, for all the on-street parking spaces in the Borough of Westminster? FOI 4211 covers the same question but for secure car parks, so I would like to know about on-street motorcycle parking spaces.

In addition to my previous question, I would also like to know what type of security device, if any, may be installed and who has been consulted to determine the type of security device selected.

In response to your request I can advise you of the following:

Despite the fact that usage of the security devices installed remains low, the City Council remains committed to providing them and work to install more devices can recommence.

In September 2009, two hundred new devices have been purchased and a programme of implementation is being developed. We will be looking to install further devices where there is demand for them and where it is practicable and appropriate for us to do so.

The information requested is publicly available: please refer to the Cabinet Member Report, dated 1 October 2009:

http://www3.westminster.gov.uk/newcsu/Cabinet%20Member%20Decisions/City%20Management/2009/18%20-%20Motorcyle%20Charging%20Scheme%20-%20Objections%20to%20the%20Making%20of%20Permanent%20Traffic%20Orders/Motorcycles%20Cab%20Report%20PermTMO%20Sep09%20(FINAL).doc

Paragraph 4.6.5 (page 8 of 23), which provides an overview of the programme of implementation.

The information you have requested is, therefore, exempt under Section 21 of the

Freedom of Information Act 2000 (Reasonably Accessible by Other Means). As

such, this paragraph acts as a Refusal Notice under the Freedom of Information

Act.

If you are not satisfied with this response please set out your reasons in writing and send to:
