Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. You asked NHS Enfield:

1. What is the total number of dentists in your area who have a

contract with the PCT to provide NHS services? How many practices

is this?

2. Please can I have details of the gross income (for the

last financial year 07/08) of each of the practices within your PCT

that provide NHS services?

3. Please also provide the amount

claimed in expenses for each practice according to their

self-assessment tax forms for the last financial year 07/08.

4. Please provide details of how many dentists are employed per

practice.

5. Can you also provide the same detail (including gross

income and expenses) per practice for the year 04/05 - the year

before the new NHS contract was introduced to improve access to

dental services?

6. If available, please can I also have the total

number of "units" of dental activity and treatment carried out per

practice in the last financial year 07/08.

In response to your questions:

There are 46 dental practices operating within the area covered by NHS Enfield, 2 of which are Orthodontic practices. There are currently 118 dentists working in Enfield.

Below is a table detailing the contract value of each of the dental practices operating within NHS Enfield. Please note that the names of the practices have not been given as this would enable you to identify the practice name and their contract value. This information is therefore exempt under section 43 (Part 1) of the FOI Act 2000 - Commercial Interests. Also included is the PCT average Unit Dental Activity and Unit Orthodontic Activity.

Dentists do not claim expenses from NHS Enfield, therefore we do not hold any information of this kind.
