Dear Mr Connelly
Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
I am writing to you further to your request for information about:
ļ±
IT hardware procurement
The Trust has examined the records held within the IM&T department and I
can provide the following information
You have requested a complete list of suppliers/contractors and consultants
that have been used over the past year when procuring IT hardware and the
total spend on IT hardware during the past year. You have also asked for this
to be broken down to show what brand servers, networking and desktop
hardware were purchased with a spend amount in each segment.
The Trust publishes information about suppliers and contractors on its website
therefore this information is exempt under section 21 of the Freedom of
Information Act (information reasonably accessible to the applicant by other
means). The information is at http://www.bcf.nhs.uk/about_us/supplies-
procurement/index
The main companies that provide IT hardware are Dell, HP, IBM, PCS,
Logicalis, Cisco, Eurodata, Intercept IT Limited, VMware and Cygina
Technologies.
In 2008/09, total IT Purchases (Hardware/Software) totalled £40,400.
Computer maintenance/IT contracts totalled £1,603,152 and spending on
management consultancy was £16,685.
Steve Huddleston, Director of IM&T has overall responsibility for the IM&T
strategy, which dictates the purchases that are made. However this is within
the context of the Connecting for Health programme and the Trustās
procurement framework. The Trustās Head of Procurement is Caroline
Simpkin.
I trust that I have dealt with your request to your satisfaction. Please do not
hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries or if I can be of further
assistance.
This information has been held by the Trust for its own purposes and is
published to you pursuant to the Trustās obligations under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. Any further use or publication by you of this material is
at your own risk and it is your responsibility to check the accuracy and
appropriateness of the material for your purposes.
If you have any concerns about the response you have received, you may
request that the Trust undertakes an independent review of your request. You
can do this by contacting our complaints department at the above address. If,
after this process, you are still not satisfied with the response you receive, you
can contact the Information Commissioner at
Wycliffe House

Finally, I enclose an evaluation form which I would be very grateful if you
could complete and return to me so that we can continually improve our
Publication Scheme and the way that we deal with requests for information
under the Freedom of Information Act.
Yours sincerely
Alison Macdonald
