official parking permit - guidance notes
The City Council's official parking all zone permit (which came into effect on 1 December, 1993) are intended to facilitate parking by Members in the course of their official duties as City Councillors only. Members of the Council are entitled to an' All Zones' permit for the use while on Official Council business.
An Official Parking Permit does not remove the need to purchase a Residents Parking Permit for the Members' zone of residence (where applicable), which must be displayed when the vehicle is parked near the Members Home. Members who need to purchase a Residents Parking Permit for their own private use, should therefore continue to display this permit in the normal fashion.
The Official Parking Permit allows the holder to park without time limit in residents bays and shared use bays, and to take advantage of the dual use scheme (free parking on meters and Pay and Display bays within the given zone(s) between 8.30-9.30 am and 5.30-6.30pm).
The Official Parking Permit does not allow the holder free parking at Meters or Pay and Display bays, nor enable the holder to park in any designated parking bay (doctors, hospital, disabled or diplomats bays), nor allow parking on yellow lines, Red Routes, within the Metropolitan Police Security Zone, nor within the City Council's Off-Street Car Parks.
The Official Parking Permit should be removed from the windscreen when the vehicle is not being used on official City Council business and kept safe.
Please advise the Cabinet,Committee and Scrutiny Secretariat (address below) immediately if your permit is lost or stolen. A replacement can then be arranged.
Please use an application form for renewals, vehicle changes, and replacement of lost or stolen permits. Copies of the form can be obtained from the addresses below:
