Dear Blue
Re: Request for Internal Review - Request 4275
Thank you for your dated 23rd September 2009 regarding the response to your recent request to the Council (our ref: 4275).
In your you asked for an internal review of the handling of your Request. I have summarised the details of your appeal below:
Lack of response
I am sorry that you are dissatisfied with our handling of your requests and I have investigated your complaints under Stage 1 of the Council's Corporate Complaints Procedure. Further details of our procedure can be found on our website: http://www.westminster.gov.uk/services/councilgovernmentanddemocracy/councils/contactsconsultationandfeedback/complaints-and-compliments/complaints/
Response
You originally submitted your request on the 21st August 2009. You emailed on the 23rd September to request an internal review because you had not received a response by the completion target date of the 21st September 2009. You subsequently sent an email on the 19th October 2009 as you had not received a response to your request for an internal review within 10 working days.
Firstly, I would like to take the opportunity to apologise for the delay in responding to your request. In mitigation I can only offer that your request was allocated incorrectly within the Council and this was not brought to our attention, nor rectified, until after the completion due date had already elapsed. The nature of the request then necessitated that information was recalled from our archives which has also impacted on the time taken to respond to you.
These delays, however, are unacceptable and your complaint is upheld.
I also note that, as of today's date you have still not received a response to your original request and I confirm that our Legal department have now retrieved the information from our archives and anticipate being able to provide you with a response by Friday 23rd October, or willl contact you with a further update.
This completes the internal review into the handling of your Request under the Council's complaints procedure. Should you be dissatisfied with our response, you are entitled to contact the Information Commissioner under Section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act. For your reference, I have provided his contact details below:
