Introduction
1. The New Product Development Group, a Working Group of EXCOM and comprising the persons shown below has been established for the purpose as set out below.
Purpose of the Group
2. This group is being established to support the strategic intentions of the school to maintain and grow its market share and influence in the sector, in support of Government's priorities through the development of new products and services.

4. The group will meet as often agreed by the members but not less than once per quarter. The first meeting of the group should take place by end June 2007.
Terms of Reference
5. To consider and agree the process of bringing new products to market as follows:
Idea generation
Concept development and testing
market research, competitor and gap analyses
product approval
product design
product development
product launch and/or piloting
roll out
6. The group will agree processes and procedures for development and roll out of new products such as;
Go/ adapt/ conditional go/ hold decisions
quality control checkpoints
ownership
prioritisation
resourcing, and
handling of legal and policy issues, for example intellectual property
7. To report to ExCOM in a timely manner, all proposals being considered; timeframes for implementation, outcomes, risks and challenges, and successes and in that regard to develop strong links with the ExCOM Investmet Committee
8. To meet all quality assurance requirements for products as set out in the School's Q&A policy issued in 2006.
9. To agree or recommend to ExCOM any issues of collaboration or partnership with other organisations
10. To agree appropriate marketing and communications strategy to support the development and roll out of all new products
11. To coopt staff, associates or interested stakeholders as appropriate for taking forward the work of the group
12. To agree kite marking and accreditation of products
13. To consider and agree any other matter as appropriate to the purpose for which the group has been set up
Concluding Remarks
14. This document is a first step in changing the way new products are developed and taken to market in the School. The hope is that this will help to push, with some urgency, the cover of the School across the public service and learning and development sector and will end with high quality new products going to market in a systematic and standardised way and achieve the broad aims for which it is being set up.
