Dear Mr Whitehouse,
Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Request for Information
I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Further to my FOI request regarding the Victoria Square Fountain
leak I was hoping you'd be able to provide me with some further
information regarding the fountain.
1. Could you provide me with an overview of how the works on the
fountain are progressing and estimated completion date & budget?
No works have progressed on the fountain yet, Cabinet Committee (Property) gave approval on July 15th for works to commence in early August and be completed by the end of October 2010. The project budget is £300,000.
2. One of the statues within the fountain, part of the Youth artwork by Dhruva Mistry (a female figure kneeling) has recently gone missing (March 17th. http://www.flickr.com/photos/benjidubyah/4440650638/ ). Can you clarify where the statue is? What the cause for the missing statue is and the predicted return date?
The statue of the female figure was removed for health and safety reasons a couple of months ago. It has been moved into safe storage in the Museum and will be reinstated as part of the refurbishment project.
If you are not satisfied with the response you may ask for an internal review.
