Request for information

In your email of 21 July, you asked us to provide a copy of the Commission for Local Administration's Code on Access to Information as referred to in the Code of Conduct for Commission Members.

The Commission no longer has such a document. The only document referred to by the title `Access to Information' is the one that appears on our website at www.lgo.org.uk/access-information/. The information you have requested is not held.

The Code of Conduct for Commission Members has been amended since you received a copy and now makes reference to our internal guidance on Public Rights to Information. If you intend to request a copy of this guidance, please note that, in accordance with Mr Karney's letter to you of 8 January 2009, I request that you give me your reasons for making the request for this document before I decide how to respond to it.

That concludes my response. If you feel I have not dealt properly with your request, you have the right to appeal and, should you wish to do so, I can supply a copy our internal complaints procedure. If you do request an internal review - can you please indicate why you are unhappy with my response. You also have the right to apply to the Information Commissioner to determine whether your request has been properly dealt with. You should note however that the Commissioner will not consider any complaint where you have not first exhausted our internal complaints process or where there has been undue delay in contacting him. You will be able to obtain further details of the Information Commissioner's role from the website on www.ico.gov.uk.
