Thank you for your Freedom of Information request received on 20^th July 2009.You asked for:-

Please give a list of complaints against Atos at Wolverhampton for wrong medical assessments regarding ESA.

Following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the Medical Services Contract Management Team. Information on the categories of complaint is not held for specific Medical Examination Centres as it is held by region and this comprises complaint statistics for a number of Medical Examination Centres including when a complaint is received by the Atos Healthcare National Customer Relations Team. Complaints are registered on a database and the relevant geographic region is identified for management information purposes not the specific office.

Benefit entitlement is determined by DWP Decision Makers not approved Healthcare Professionals. In order to make a decision on benefit entitlement the Decision Maker considers all the available evidence not just the reports received from Atos Healthcare. Other evidence may include the customer's `self assessment', reports from GPs, hospital doctors and health care professionals.
