Review of Elective Home Education - Responses from home educators
Dear Sir or Madam,
Please can you advise me how many and what proportion of consultation responses from home educators (or home educated children) to the Review of Elective Home Education
in England carried out by Mr Graham Badman indicated support for the introduction of a register of home educated children to be introduced.
I am also requesting to know how many and what proportion of consultation responses from home educators called for any form of monitoring for home educated children and / or their families.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
K Maxwell

Dear Mr/Ms Maxwell,
I am very sorry that you have not yet received a response to your request
(2009/0062914) received 13 July, under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(the Act) seeking information in relation to the review of home
education.
The Department aims to respond to all requests under the Act within 20
working days and normally does so in at least 90% of cases. I am aware
however that a full response to your request should have been due today,
10 August. I am currently dealing with your request and will forward a
full response as soon as possible. Delays in responding to FOI requests
have been due to a number of factors including large volumes of
correspondence resulting from the review into home education. I would
however like to assure you that the Department takes its statutory
responsibilities under the Act very seriously and is always concerned
about delays in responding to individual requesters, recognising
the inconvenience and frustration which this may cause.
Outstanding correspondence is reviewed by officials on a weekly basis and
your correspondence is therefore under regular review. Once again please
accept my sincere apologies for the delay.
Yours sincerely,
Josephine Bell

Dear Sir or Madam
I refer to your request for information, which was received on 13 July.
Before answering your request I should again like to apologise for the
delay in replying. This was partly because we had to commission some
additional analysis of the review responses to show the home education
responses that you requested. The Department is aware, however, that it
has missed the statutory deadline for reply and is in breach of its
obligations under the Act. We very much regret this and any inconvenience
this has caused you.
