Dear Mr John,

Thank you for your e-mail of 10/07/2009 requesting details about meetings between the Home Office and other government departments to agree the UK Government response to the European Commission infraction proceedings relating to targeted online advertising.

I am writing to disclose such information as can be released today. The European Commission has corresponded with the UK Government on the subject of Targeted Online Advertising.  The Home Office and BERR, along with other Government departments, have met to produce a Government response to the European Commission on 05 August, 2008, 26 January 2009, 21 April 2009 and 28 April 2009. In relation to the request for details of what was discussed at this meeting, we are withholding them under section 35(1)(a) (the formulation or development of government policy). More information of this exemption can be located in Annex A

I can confirm however that no third parties (non-governmental departments) were present.
