Dear Mr Lort-Philips

Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000: Request for information

Thank you for your request for information dated 14 August 2009 relating to FOI/4045. You have requested the following information:

  1. In light of the response, where is the remaining money to bring up the total of £224,438? The total on the Excel sheet is only just under £160,000. This represents a vast disparity of £84,000.

  1. In addition, what were the activities involved in the bays surveys, which come to over £38,00, and what were the results?

In response to your request, I can advise you of the following:

  1. Originally we reported that, in the Cabinet Member Report, £224,436 was spent on survey work and extension of on-street parking spaces; this was broken down over two financial years 2007/08 and 2008/09.

Some classifications of expenditure have now changed from what we have previously shown. Communication costs associated with the Traffic Management Order (TMO) may now be classified as TMO costs, when previously they were communications.

I have enclosed the expenditure accounts (original and updated) as separate

attachments to the email.

  1. The bays surveys were made up of site visits to assess occupancy levels and scrutinise areas that require the installation of security devices. The surveys were also used to show areas of high occupancy and the outcome was to provide additional motorcycle parking in those areas either by extending existing bays or providing new ones. All bays had to be photographed and measured to a detailed design for new devices.

If you are not satisfied with this response please set out your reasons in writing and send to:
