Dear Mr Canning

REQUEST FOR INTERNAL REVIEW: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT:  HYBRIDS AND RED
BACKED SHRIKES

Thank you for your email of 21 September requesting an internal review in respect of your request under
the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) concerning red backed shrikes and hybrids.

Your email is concerned with aspects of policy relating to red backed shrikes and hybrids and does not
raise any issues indicating that we have not handled your request in accordance with the FOIA.  However,
in looking at this case, I have noticed that the 20 working day deadline for the response was 3 August but
we did not reply to you until 4 August.  I therefore apologise that Defra missed the statutory deadline by
one working day in this case.

I hope that the above answers your letter satisfactorily.  However, if you remain dissatisfied, you have the
right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information Commissioner can
be contacted at:

Information Commissioner’s Office
Wycliffe House

Yours sincerely
